Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships

Newcastle University is pleased to offer its Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship (VCES) to outstanding and eligible international students wishing to enrol in a degree programme at the University beginning in the 2024/25 academic year.

Every year, Newcastle University offers many scholarships to high-achieving international students pursuing an undergraduate degree. The prizes will be deposited to the student’s fee account to lower the total cost of tuition fees.

Eligibility criteria for the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship

To be eligible for Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Postgraduate taught and research degree applicants
  • Medicine MB BS, Dental Surgery BDS, and Oral and Dental Health Sciences applications.
  • Applicants who apply through Clearing include study abroad and exchange students.
  • The award is for current, registered university students who have started their undergraduate degree at the time. Awards cannot be made retrospectively.
  • Applicants who were initially categorised as international for fee purposes but had their fees changed to “home”
  • Scholarships are renewed annually and based on academic success.
  • Awards for 2024/25 cannot be deferred until the 2025/26 academic year.
  • To be considered for rewards, applicants must have or anticipate to achieve a minimum of ABB in A level or equivalent. The applicants chosen to receive the grants will be evaluated based on evidence of academic aptitude, commitment to studies, and application quality, and they may be contacted for further information.

Application Process

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must be accepted into an eligible full-time undergraduate degree programme at the University’s Newcastle city centre campus for the 2024/25 academic year and be assessed as international for fees purposes.
The University provides scholarships based on academic excellence and information supplied on the application form.
