Stop the “Piece Piece School For SHS2 students: Teachers

The Ghana Education Service’s Three-day Holiday for Senior High Schools has led to the school term being described as a “Piece Piece School” by some educators, who are not excited about the kind of decisions the GES takes that inconvenience students.

It is responsible for major decisions for schools under their power and authority and to this end, it declared a Three (3) holiday for SHS2 students

According to the letter and information spreading on all social media platforms across the country, The Ghana Education Service (GES) was particularly concerned about second-year students (form two students) across the country from 22nd Of September 2023 to 24th of September 2023.

A portion of the release read:

“As part of the Constitutional regulation for all Ghanaian citizens to exercise their franchise, Management of the Ghana Education Service has granted form two (2) students who are eighteen (18) years and above to go home and register for their voter ID (identification card) the form two students are granted three (3) days effective Friday, 22nd Of September 2023 to Sunday 24th Of September 2023.”

However, a concerned teacher with the Ghana Education Service (GES) has described the second semester for SHS2 students as a  “Piece Piece School Term”. The teacher argued that the GES does not really consider several factors in making decisions that go a long way to affecting several students, especially those who travel several tens and hundreds of kilometers just to be in school.

The complaint was made after the GES directed that all SHS2 students should be allowed to take a 3-day break to help them register in their various residential localities in the ongoing limited voter registration for Ghanaians who have just turned 18 years old.

“GES please, do you really think about students? Form 2’s have only been in school for a month, and you are asking them to go home for three days because of voters’ ID cards. Imagine a student of Accra Academy who is from Tamale. Please consider some things before making some decisions. The piece-piece school is not helping.” The teacher stated on the official GES Facebook.
