Free SHS Full 2023-2024 Academic Calendar Released

The Ghana Education Service has released the Free SHS Full 2023-2024 Academic Calendar.  Per the 2023–2024 academic calendar, Senior High Schools will reopen for the start of the academic year for SHS1 students on December 4, 2023. However, SHS2 and 3 students reopened on 1st November 2023.

Two different calendars (Single Track and Double Track) were released for SHS students.

Per the new calendar released by GES, BECE graduates who sat the examination in August 2023 will start their secondary education from December 4th, 2023, to March 15th, 2023.
From 16th March 2024 – 2nd May 2024 the students will be home for their vacation.
The second semester takes off on 3rd May, 2024. Students will be expected to be in school up to August 28, 2024.

Check the full 2023–2024 academic calendar for Double Track SHSs

First-year students who will be enrolled in double-track schools will start their first year of secondary education on December 4, 2023.
They will be in school until 8th March 2023. The first semester vacation period is 2nd January 2024 – 28th March 2024.
The second semester will commence on 13th May, 2024 and end on 9th July, 2024. This will be followed by their long vacation from 17th April, 2024 – 23rd August, 2024.

With the release of the Free SHS Full 2023-2024 Academic Calendar, the road map for the academic year is clear. It will assist schools, parents, and teachers to effectively plan their lives. However, it is hoped that the GES will not alter the calendar after other stakeholders have used it to plan their lives.
