Teachers complain about mulfunctioning GES EMIS App

The GES EMIS APP, released by the Ministry of Education, is designed for collecting teachers’ data.

The EMIS stands for Education Management Information Systems. Its introduction is to help in data collection and management by the GES

In a related development, a cross-section of teachers have complained about the challenges they are facing with the GES EMIS app.

When teachers access the app, there are often two conflicting feedbacks from the app.

For instance, if two teachers in the same school access information about the school on the EMIS app, they are likely to get one of the following responses or feedback.

A. A teacher may find his/her school and the details he or she needs.

B. Another colleague teacher in the same school will find this notice, “We did not find your school”.

Teachers have called on the GES to take proactive steps to deal with the error to improve the user experience quality of the EMIS app.

Heads of Schools have also been advised to register and complete the process so that these challenges can be dealt with.

“Do something about your EMIS app. A teacher can find his/her school, but a teacher in the same school will find this notice.” We did not find your school. Please inform the head of your school to register your school for this year’s census.” A statement relating to this was sighted by the Educationblog team on the GES Official Facebook page.

How to contact GES to solve the malfunctioning GES EMIS App

Schools that are not registered on the EMIS APP and those having challenges are advised to contact their respective district IT Coordinator for registration.

Note that there are instances where your school is registered, you may get the wrong feedback if you input a name not captured in the database of the EMIS App.

Ensure you know the exact name of the school used for the registration and the spelling along with other characters used.

If the registered school name doesn’t match your search, it won’t appear. For example, if the registrar typed “S.H.S” and you’re searching for “SHS,” you won’t find it.

After selecting your region and district, follow these steps:

Type the first letter of your school and press “Search.” All schools starting with that letter will appear, allowing you to select yours. For example, type “H” for Holy Child School or “A” for Abirem SHS.
