Candidates Getting Ready for 2023 BECE & WASSCE must forget Apor Because WAECs Question Serialization Is Achieving Results.
Question serialization was introduced to objective test questions at the WASSCE and BECE to reduce the leakage of questions.
Objective test question serialization refers to the process of arranging or ordering multiple-choice or objective test questions in a specific sequence or order. This sequence is typically designed to minimize bias, enhance test reliability, and maintain consistency in test administration.
Serialization is commonly employed in large-scale assessments, such as standardized tests, to ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the assessment process. By presenting questions in a predetermined order, test developers can control the test-taking experience and reduce potential sources of bias, examination leakage, or unfair advantage.
At the just held 2022 WAEC Distinction Awards Ceremony, the Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, applauded WAEC for adopting the new approach to testing candidates which has helped to reduce leakage and examination malpractices in the last two years.
The Minister said…“WAEC has been doing well. I want to commend WAEC for what they have done in the area of stopping examination leakages at the BECE level. There have been no leakages in the last two years in BECE”.
The minister furthered that, WAEC has all it takes to stop all forms of examination malpractice through how the questions have been organized. He called for the council to ensure that there are at least forty different sets of question arrangements for each exam or subject to make it even more difficult for candidates to cheat.
