The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has released the salary payment dates for November and December, 2023.
Each month, CAGD releases funds to various banks in Ghana to be distributed to all public sector workers as their salaries for those months. Sometimes, they exceeds the date specified on their payment calendar. And when they do, they issue on that effect.
2023 Nov-Dec Salary Dates
Below is the official salary payment date for November and December, 2023.
- November, 2023
Payment will be made on 24th November, 2023
- December, 2023
Payment will be made on 20th December, 2023
These dates have been released to help public sector workers know when their salaries will be paid in November and December to help them have funds ahead of the Christmas and New year holidays in December 2023 to January 2024.
Government increases base pay by 23% for 1st half of 2024, 25% for 2nd half
In a related development, the government of Ghana has granted a 23% salary increment to workers in Ghana. This increment takes effect in January 2024.
Both parties have concluded the following negotiations for the 2024 Single Spine Salary Structure Base Pay
1. That the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has been increased by 23% across board from January 2024 to June 2024
2. That from July 2024 to December 2024 the Base Pay would be readjusted to 25%.
This comes following a planned meeting between organized labor and the government regarding an increment in base pay concluded inconclusively.
Labour advocated for a 45 percent increase in base pay, which would subsequently raise overall salaries.
There are many benefits to paying November and December salaries ahead of time when Christmas and New Year celebrations are approaching. Here are a few of the most important:
1. Increased employee morale and productivity: When employees know that they will be receiving their salaries on time, they are more likely to be happy and engaged in their work. This can lead to increased productivity and morale.
2. Reduced financial stress for employees: Many employees struggle to make ends meet during the holiday season. Paying salaries ahead of time can help to alleviate this stress and make it easier for employees to enjoy the holidays.
