Teacher Trainees Allowance, Level 400 Teaching Practicum Fee Updates

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has informed all trainees in public colleges of education of the latest developments regarding the yet-to-be-paid Teacher Trainees Allowance and Level 400 Teaching Practicum Fee.

According to the association, revealed that the processing of the delayed allowances was underway.

It added that PRINCOF and SLTF have been informed of the inability of some students to complete their documentation for the payment of their respective allowances.

According to (TTAG), students who have never received their trainee allowance since gaining admission continue to be a worry to the association.

It called on students in this category to reach out to their local college president and executives to get their issues addressed. All students in the above situation have also been tasked to do well to submit their details to the Student Records and Information Management System (SRIMS) for processing and disbursement of their allowances.

(TTAG) furthered that students who have not received their allowances since their admission to college and those who were previously receiving the allowance but are currently no longer receiving it should take proactive steps as explained above.

In a letter issued by ATTAG, it indicated that “We are delighted to inform you that preparations for the disbursement of allowances are well underway. However, we have been notified by PRINCOF and SLTF that some students have not yet submitted their allowance details.

We kindly remind those affected to promptly submit accurate details through the Student Records and Information Management System (SRIMS) to ensure the smooth processing of allowances.

Additionally, we would like to address two specific situations regarding the allowance: Students who have not received their allowances since their admission to college and Students who have previously received their allowances but are no longer receiving them.”

The Trainees’ allowances were restored in 2017 after the Nana Addo-led NPP captured power in the December 2016 general elections. The restoration of the allowance has not come without challenges and delays in the payment of these funds, which students in training colleges need so badly to keep body and soul together in school.

With regard to the Level 400 Teaching Practicum Fee, ATTAG has liaised with PRINCOF for the reconsideration of the amount to be paid as Practicum Fee.

It has called on all final-year students to remain calm whiles it engaged with the leadership of PRINCOF for the best solution in the interest of the student body.
