The Senior High School prospectus for 2023 BECE graduates will be reduced. This is according to the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

According to him, going forward, the free SHS Prospectus would be reduced drastically. He believes that some items on the list are not needed.

In his recent interview on Adom Fm, the minster revealed that the government introduced free senior high education to help the poor. However, some SHS headmasters do include certain items on the prospectus that doesn’t seem relevant. This is because, the Akufo Addo-led government provides a lot of items to various SHS in Ghana. Meanwhile, some of these items have also been indicated in the prospectus. He believes that this create another burden on parents.

“You will see what will happen soon. The prospectus will be reduced drastically. Some items are not needed to be on the list. Government has brought Free SHS to make the poor feel relieved, however this prospectus is still giving them problems. I still don’t understand” he said.

The 2023 school placement is expected to be released before 25th November, 2023. Candidates are advised to prepare for the release.

When the placement results are released, SHS freshers visit their schools to take their prospectus and other admission requirements list. Some of the items listed on the prospectus are not needed. Most of the items on the prospectus are being supplied to the schools by the government. However, some schools do ask freshers to submit these items as part of their admission requirements.

According to the minister of Education, the 2023 BECE Graduates will have less items on the prospectus. This is because, the Akufo Addo-led government introduced Free SHS to release burden from parents. So demanding expensive items on a prospectus is not defining the real meaning of free SHS.
