My First Copy Book is one of the six handwriting improvement books that many of today’s adults, professors, doctors, lawyers, teachers, and other professionals were introduced to in Primary One several years ago.
This book is still used in many schools today as it helps learners learn to get better grips on the pencil, learn to write, and improve their handwriting.
The series of copy books ends in class six, and by the time you are through practicing with these book, you are expected to have well-polished, fine-tuned, and appealing handwriting.
But practicing with the famous My First Copy Book and any of the copy books for basic 2 to 6 does not come without a few knocks if you fail to do a good job in class.
Corrections and re-corrections in class and learning to put in their best effort to write better and faster and be the first to queue in front of the teacher’s table are fond memories most of us have of these books. Yes, I do as well, especially in class one.
Be it slanted to the left or right or just straight handwriting, you will find your preferred handwriting type along the way.
That serious-looking girl on the cover page of all the first three copy books for Basic1,2 and 3 out of the six books is the lady in question today.
A picture of her looking all grown up as a woman and a mother has popped up on the internet, and everyone who has ever used this book or heard of it is having goosebumps and fond memories of how these books helped them improve their handwriting.

Sometimes, just looking at her seriousness on the cover will push you to sit up right and write well just to ensure you are not asked to go and erase and rewrite.

If you ever used this My First Copy Book and the others from primary one to sixth, it is time to beam with a smile. But if there is any evidence of how the book helped us all improve our handwritings, I will like to see her hand writing today.
