GES update on 2023 School Placement projected release date and candidates who will not be placed

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has given an update on the 2023 School Placement (CSSPS). In a post sighted by the Education Blog emanating from the management of GES, the outfit indicates that it is preparing for the release of the 2023 Computerised School placement.

The post by the GES read:

“Preparations for the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) begin.”

Per the GES’ released academic calendar for SHS1 students, the current BECE graduates will report to school on December 4th for the start of Semester 1 of the 2023–2024 academic year.

What is the projected date for the release of the 2023 School Placement (CSSPS)?

Since the BECE results have been released, it is projected that it should not take the GES more than 14 days to release the 2023 school placements.

We projected the date for the release of the BECE with 99% accuracy hence we are projecting the release of the school placement as well.

Education Blog is projecting that the GES will release the school placements for BECE graduates between November 22 and 26, 2023.

This will offer parents and students ample time to print out their placements and get ready for school.

What are some of the specifics about the upcoming 2023 school placements?

  1. The name of the candidate, the JHS attended, and the locations or regions.
  2. The names of subjects and their raw scores for the candidates (core subjects plus the best two other subjects).
  3. The schools selected by the candidate.
  4. The school he or she has been placed in.
  5. The date for reporting to school to start the enrollment process.
  6. Whether the school into which the candidate has been placed is a single-track or double-track school.
  7. The Programme a student placed in a Free SHS has been offered.
  8. Accommodation types are offered. (Day or Boarding): Note that more students seeking to be enrolled as boarding students will be placed in day schools.

Based on past experiences, students and parents will be expected to visit the respective schools they have been placed in to complement the enrolment processes.

Which candidates are likely not to be placed in any school?

This year, candidates were selected for up to 11 schools; however, some candidates are likely not to be placed and may have to use the self-placement system.

Candidates who scored 9 in mathematics or science are not likely to be placed, and there is no self-placement.

Students with cancelled subjects, pending results, or whose entire results have been cancelled are also likely to miss school placement.

Those whose scripts are pending WAEC investigations will also not be placed in any school.
