There is pressure on WAEC to make checking of 2023 BECE and WASSCE results free for candidates. Many parents find it illogical that WAEC would charge students to check their exam results, especially considering that either parents or the government are responsible for paying the exam fees.
Others have also called on WAEC to make the cost of BECE and WASSCE result checking part of the examination fee so that candidates will not need to buy result checking cards to access an exam they have paid for.
In the past years, African Education Watch has called on the West African Examination Council to strike out the sale of result checkers to candidates.
According to information that has made its way to this site, EduWatch (Africa Education Watch) has reportedly submitted a petition to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) requesting that applicants for the Basic Education Certificate and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination be allowed to check their results for free.
The administration of the non-profit organisation, EduWatch, is calling attention to the need to make checking results free. It also stated that prospective students who sat for the BECE and WASSCE for school candidates should be charged not more than GHC6.00 to check their results. At the moment, a result checker may be purchased from a retailer for the price of GHS17.00.
The 2023 BECE result is expected to be released by WAEC between November 10th and November 18th, 2023, and BECE graduates will start their first semester as SHS1 students on December 4th.
On the other hand, examiners are currently marking WASSCE for school candidates. The results of the 2023 WASSCE (SC) will be released in the second week of December 2023.

- Go to the WAEC eResults website: https://eresults.waecgh.org/.
- Select the “BECE (School)” or “BECE (Private)” exam type.
- Enter your index number and the serial number and PIN from your scratch card.
- Click on “Submit”.
- Your results will be displayed on the screen.
